Welcome to my recipe index, where you'll find frugal, healthy recipes utilizing "real" food ingredients and nourishing practices. My goal is to add at least one recipe per week. I believe you CAN eat healthy, real foods on a tight budget. I find it's less costly to eat this way than if I were purchasing processed, ready-made foods for my family.
We bake lots of healthy, soaked, whole grain breads, so you'll notice there are many bread and muffin recipes. I grind my own grain; read about the benefits of freshly ground grain here. If you are new to soaking the flour before cooking with it, I do this to make the bread more easily digestible. Besides, it just tastes better when I do!
While most of the recipes here incorporate only traditional, real, "whole" food ingredients, there are times when I allow a nominal amount of sugar into my infrequent desserts. If this concerns you, feel free to experiment with using honey or pure maple syrup instead.
