What to do in Florida other than visit Disney (Sorry, Mickey!)

.
.

A few things we did on our trip, and frugal alternatives to Disney for those of you planning your next vacation:
  • Meet up with long-time friends and create a few more memories
  • Stay at a resort with a great pool and spend the warmer days swimming
  • Visit the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens - it's a small zoo, but unique and very nicely done; Gentry was able to hug a llama and pet an armadillo :)
  • Visit the Orlando Science Center - be sure to check out the real half a brain (eek!), the hurricane force winds simulator, and the real volcano model
  • Walk the boardwalk and see the manatees at Blue Spring State Park; if your children are older, take out kayaks (available hourly) or snorkel the spring
  • Stroll the kid-friendly shops and restaurants at Downtown Disney - it's free :)
  • Enjoy massive ice cream sundaes at Ghirardelli
  • Venture up to St. Augustine, the oldest city in America
Here are a small handful highlights from our twelve day trip:

Time in the resort with friends.

Little do these two know, we are secretly plotting their wedding :)

I was thankful for a kitchen so that I could cook up yummy breakfasts and also for a whole foods store nearby; here is my omelett, with sprouted grain raisin bread, and the best turkey bacon ever.

I was so proud of my oldest son in this photo -  we took him out for a rather unique dinner, and he bravely tried (and enjoyed!) goat cheese, lamb, crab, and much more.  This made me smile :)

We made great memories, but it's good to be home.

            Warmly,

One Way To Take Tea

This is how I've been enjoying my tea ~

One cup of steaming hot water, with one peach tea bag, steeped for about five minutes, then drizzled with honey and cooled slightly with half and half.

So good.

What have you been enjoying in these cooler months?

Do You Do This, Too?

Just for fun -- I was wondering if you do this, too --

While shopping, I found these very cute and still very functional Jones New York shirts for an amazing deal: only $6.97 each.  Slightly tapered fit, lightweight for warmer months, sleeves that easily roll-up with pretty little tabs to hold them in place.

I brought four of them home, one in each color :)

Have you ever done this?  Please do tell...

Seeking The One Who Really Loves

I want to know more of Him, His Word, His truth, His love.

His truth - born of love and proven by our love toward each other.

Truth that has been discovered by spending time with Him as He teaches me how to grow in love.

I must spend the time; invest it into my relationship with Him, with others, with His church.

Time spent in prayer, in conversation, in intimacy.  Time hungry for Him, desiring Him, pursuing Him and His kingdom.  Memorizing Him and His likes and dislikes.  Reading His Word.  Singing His praises.  Serving Him by serving others. Offering my heart and surrendering everything I am, even my way of thinking, my mind.

I want to be bathed in His presence daily, in His Word, fragrant prayers ever on my lips, learning to lean and growing in love, prepared to share truth as He leads.

And may each of you, dear mamas, find truth born of love - His love - when you visit here as well.  May your time here be well spent.  May you find little treasures of truth and love here that inspire you to live deeper, fuller, closer to Him.  May your families be richer for it.

May we hear Him louder than the cries of our flesh or the culture around us.

Precious mamas, I pray that each of you experiences His unfailing love, daily, as you continually seek Him.

            Warmly,
